Members of the Munster Junior Woman’s Club were honored to attend the Munster Police Department’s annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner, a special evening dedicated to recognizing the many individuals and organizations that donate their time to make our community stronger.
We are grateful to Sergeant Ghrist and the Munster Police Department for including our club in this celebration and for recognizing the partnership we’ve built over many years.
One of the evening’s honorees was longtime club member Dianne Kowalski, whose dedication perfectly represents the spirit of volunteerism. In addition to being recognized for her own service, Dianne also helps coordinate the food for the event and prepares the desserts—volunteering while being honored for volunteering!
Supporting the Munster Police Department has been an important part of our club’s community service for many years. Throughout the past year alone, the Munster Junior Woman’s Club has:
- Donated financial support for National Night Out Against Crime and the Cops & Kids program.
- Participated in National Night Out Against Crime to connect with families and promote community involvement.
- Volunteered alongside officers during the annual Cops & Kids holiday shopping event.
- Hosted a fundraiser for the Munster Police Department, raising $3,500 for the K-9 Unit.
- Volunteered at the K-9 Unit’s golf outing and fundraising events.
In previous years, our fundraiser has also provided funding for Ben’s Blue Bags, sensory kits placed in police department vehicles to help comfort children during difficult situations, as well as VIPS, continuing our commitment to helping the police department serve our community.
Our members have also proudly supported the Munster Police Department’s former Snow Flurry program, creating necklaces for participating students and leading a service project where fifth graders decorated Meals on Wheels bags while learning about the importance of volunteering.
We are thankful for the opportunity to work alongside the Munster Police Department throughout the year and appreciate being recognized among so many dedicated volunteers who help make Munster such a wonderful place to live.
